Early Collections in Absolutely No Particular Order! |

This pink terry is from one of Kate's first resort collections, circa 1994. You can see that the shape hasn't changed since then, but the fabric certainly has! It is lined in turquoise faille. These bags have NO country of origin labels! In 1994 the Kate Spade label was larger. Picture of bucket bag by kiki81ny. |

These bags have either blue or reddish-pink stripes, were made in the USA, and were available in a variety of shapes. Sam picture by divatiara.

This is a happy collection, made in the USA, and available in numerous shapes including shoppers and a Chloe. I don't remember this collection but a friend of mine has dated it at 1996.

These bags were available in two color combinations: black/grey/yellow, shown here in the Canteen, and black/pink/green, shown here in the Sam. These were made in the USA and available in a number of other shapes..

There are very few authentic denim bags. All those denim Sam bags with gingham lining that you see on eBay are FAKE! Unless the bag is part of the Kate Spade Texas 1999 collection with a Kate Spade Texas label, it must have this beige plaid lining to be authentic. These are from the summer, 1997 collection. As you can see, the stitching on the label is white. Do not buy a denim KS unless it is a Kate Spade Texas bag or has this beige plaid lining! These are VERY RARE! Shopper photos by kiki81ny. The plastic beach tote is also available these two color combinations. I am not sure what collection these are from (1998 maybe?) so if you know please tell me. Blue/red/green photo by Bonho.

The patent leather bags, circa '95/'96, are RARE finds! Besides the bowling bag style, shown here, I have also seen patent leather backpacks and shoppers; also in blue and white.

This collection is different from the Summer, 2000 "seersingle" collection. These bags are chambray but lined in seersucker with vachetta trim (as opposed to black trim with white contrast stitching like the Seersingle bags). I don't have any recollection of the year so please email me if you know.

These bags are made of wool jersey knit with a button decoration on the front and KS label on the side of the bag. This collection includes black, pink, any others???

This corduroy collection was part of Kate’s first collection of bags. These bags are so old, it has the Kate Spade New York label on the INSIDE! Other than some evening bags and the new Maddie shape, I believe this is the only drawstring model out there. |

Kate has done several velvet collections as you probably know. This collection was made in the USA and is shown here in the Shopper and Canteen. I’ve seen bags from this collection in red, brown and black, and in the Sam and Claire styles. |
These faux-furry bags are from the 1997 collection and a very unusual find on eBay. They are often faked so pay close attention to the label on a faux fur leopard bag. |

Shown here are: green Sonia (photo by velocityville), palomino Claire. |

A silver satin drawstring evening style, with label on the interior, from 1997 or 1998. |
From 1998, the chambray and seersucker bags have light blue and white, green, or light grey and white cotton seersucker fabric. They are lined in either pink or red (not to be confused with the 2000 Seersingle bags, which were chambray red or grey on the outside and seersucker on the inside)! |
A silk shantung Pru evening bag and Sam, from a different collection than the dupioni silk. |
As you’ve probably noted, there are several collections of two-tone canvas. This model is older, probably from 1996. Note the use of grosgrain ribbon closure and boxy shape. No fake looks this good! |
This fabric was available in a wide variety of shapes including the Claire, Henry, and Sam. These bags were made in Italy and are lined in black faille. |
This collection, made in brown and cream and also grey and cream, is different from the fall 2000 collection. It was made in the USA; note that the handles are also wool rather than leather. |
Belive it or not, these evening bags are from the same collection! Both the velvet canteen and the satin bucket have large monogrammed logos rather than the traditional fabric logo. These bags are circa 1997. |
This collection was made in the USA and contains all sorts of shapes and sizes. Most commonly you will see the “Basket” and “Amy.” I have seen pink, champagne, taupe, and blue shantung bags. There may be more colors! |

Shown here in the Basket, this is also available in the Pru style. |
1995 Faux Fur Leopard (note the different pattern from the 1997 catamont above):
Silk Shopper with Striped Shantung lining (take note of this lining - a lot of 1998 bags have this):
